The team at OKIE811 takes great pride in our ability to traverse the State of Oklahoma in order to spread the 811 message of contacting 811 before you dig and digging safely. On May 21, 2016, OKIE811 has a unique opportunity to partner with the group at Camp Bandage in order to help educate the youth about potential hazards of not dialing 811 before you dig.

Camp Bandage was held at Chisolm Trail South Park in Broken Arrow, OK. The event featured exhibitors from around the region with one goal in mind: safety. The event went all day and saw several thousand citizens of all sizes in attendance. Over seventy exhibitors ranging from: Broken Arrow Police Department, Broken Arrow Fire Department, The American Red Cross, Oklahoma Center for Poison and Drug Information, News on 6, and the 138th Air National Guard were on hand to help educate kids about all of the potential situations that could affect them, how to prepare for them, and how to react accordingly.

OKIE the Critter came out to the event and even made a few new friends! Not only did OKIE get to meet the great people of Broken Arrow, but he was able to snap a few pictures with McGruff the Crime Dog (his childhood hero), the Crash-Test Dummies, and even a T-Rex! OKIE had a blast and is already planning his trip to next year’s Camp Bandage!
